At The Painter’s Wife, we are #MORETHANDOGS. We care for our dogs whilst caring for our planet.

Our long-lasting products show our commitment to sustainable fashion and make our personal contribution to climate protection. Since we launched our project back in 2017, we’ve been working with high-quality materials, most of them are of local origin, production and supply chain. We want to increase our commitment, and this begins with GREEN PAW, a project that focuses on sustainability in three main areas: Planet, Product and Community.

We care for our planet

Recycling: our packaging is made from recycled cardboard, and we use FSC Certified hang-tags on all our garments.

Local production: 90% of our collection is produced in Galicia, our region, and in Portugal, only 100 km away from our HQ. This allows us to visit our suppliers regularly and to reduce the impact of our logistics operations on the environment.

We care for our product

With our raw materials: we choose durable materials that fit perfectly in your dog’s routine. We‘ve introduced more responsible fibers into our collection, finding the best versions of the two we use the most: polyester and cotton.

Cotton is one of the fibers we use the most in our collections. As of 2020, our new cotton wear collection is being produced using GOTS certified Organic Cotton from natural seeds and grown without pesticides or other chemicals. As a result, organic cotton products are safer for both animal and human skin, and our earth. Regular cotton requires more water, pesticides and degrades the soil over time.

Our new outerwear is produced from GRS certified recycled polyester, obtained through the recycling and purification process of plastic waste collected from oceans, fishing nets and textile fiber waste.

The Green Paw label distinguishes the products that have been produced with technology and raw materials that help us reduce the environmental impact of our collections, such as our outerwear and cotton collection.

With our production techniques: we design and produce our collections to have a long-lasting life. Our toweling is produced with an eco-friendly technique that saves water and energy by drying quicker and reduces the consumption of cotton in the production process.

We care for our community

collaborating with local associations. Part of the proceeds of our Sonia Walk Collection are dedicated to Yaracan, a local association that develops dog-assisted intervention programs for children and the elderly.
